Shrek It Out!

Shrek Costumes!

Shrek Costumes

Everyone loves Shrek, the big friendly ogre who doesn’t act like a mean ogre at all! Deep down, as Shrek loves to tell everyone, ogres are nice creatures! Like onions, they have layers, so they’re only big bad and mean when they’re defending the ones they love. This Halloween, deck the kids out with Shrek costumes. We have everything from Princess Fiona to Shrek himself!

Little ladies will adore ourPrincess Fiona Deluxe Children’s Costume. This adorable costume includes long green dress with gold accents, belt and headpiece with crown* and ogre ears. It’s meant for ladies with big hearts, who know that it’s personality, not looks, that matter the most.

We also have a Princess Fiona Shrek the 3rd Movie Costumethat’ll make your girl look like she just stepped off of a Hollywood sound stage. Costume includes delicate lilac princess dress and ogre headpiece.

Infants can join the fun in our Princess Fiona Romper Infant Costume. This adorable getup features a purple one piece dress with gold detailing, as well as a headpiece meant to mimic a full head of hair with a long braid and tiny little ogre ears.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is coming soon!

This picture, taken of Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint at a photo call for
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, has us jumping for joy - we absolutely CANNOT WAIT to see this film. We're planning on sporting a cape on opening night, with our wand at ready (of course).
What about you? What will you guys be wearing? If you're unsure, check out some of our best Harry Potter costumes below.

We’ll start with the boy who started it all: Harry Potter himself! Our Premium HP Gryffindor Costume is the perfect way to dress as Harry. It features a premium deluxe hooded robe is made of Black velvet and lined in Burgundy satin with a front clasp and the Gryffindor Crest on the front. We recommend practicing Quidditch in this robe, sure to keep you warm at all times! Wand sold separately here.

For Ron and Hermione, try our Gryffindor Robes. These robes match Harry’s, so they can even be used for a Neville or Seamus costume. They feature black ankle length robes with attached hoods, burgundy accents, front close clasps and an embroidered Gryffindor Crest patch on the front. Be sure to get them cleaned and pressed in Diagon Alley before you start up school at Hogwarts!

Got blonde hair? Have a thing for Draco Malfoy? The baddest troublemaker at Hogwarts (after Harry himself, of course!) is Malfoy, and we’ve got a Slytherin Robe Costume to help you channel him. The mean attitude and the high-pitched voice you’ll have to master on your own. Costume includes robe, shirt and tie.

If you’re looking to go the scary route, we have two options: Death Eaters and Dementors. Freaky and frightening, these numbers are as scary as they look. Our Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Deluxe Death Eaters costume features a grey and white mask that’s so realistic you could swear you’ve mutated into a real servant of Voldemort! The costume includes a hooded cape with attached shirtfront and mask.

Another freaky and fabulous HP costume is our Harry Potter Dementor Costume! You may want to practice your scary hands so that when you invade the Hogwarts Express en route to school, or ruin a Quidditch game, you do so believably. Costume includes Black character mask and long black robe with chest piece.

Celebrate our Historical Heroes!

George and Martha Washington!

Everyone knows that Halloween is generally a time for men to dress scary and women to dress sexy, but maybe it’s time for a departure from this method. Want to go the opposite route? Well, how about going historical! No, we don’t mean sexy hippie, we mean the Washingtons, George and Martha (among others, of course).

Our George Washington Adult Historical Costume is the perfect way to pay your respects to our first leader even if it’s not the 4th of July! It includes a historically accurate blue jacket with gold trim, a grey vest and grey pants. If you’re going to dress like Georgie, you might as well go all the way. Top it off with our George Washington Colonial Wig, a smooth and distinguished (and very tall!) hairpiece that exudes a highly presidential air.

If you’re looking to replicate the hairstyle of Miss Martha herself, we recommend our Madame De Pompadour Wig, a hairpiece that subtly compliments George Washington’s, so that husband and wife can look powerful and polished together.

If it’s another president’s look you desire, try our Abraham Lincoln Adult Historic Costume. This deluxe getup includes a long black coat (Abe’s signature), as well as pants, vest, stovepipe hat and requisite beard. Don’t be surprised if the neighbors start asking you for advice regarding the upcoming election!

If you’re not looking for the whole shebang, check out our Abraham Lincoln Heroes in History Kit. This kit includes a beard and a stovepipe hat, but you’ll have to practice Abe’s speeches on your own time.

Another idea is to try out our Ben Franklin Historical Costume, a look so close to Ben’s that you might swear you’ve transcended the limits of time! The costume includes a jacket with attached vest and white cuffs, matching knickers and white socks, shoe covers and a white jabot. Top it off with our Ben Franklin Heroes in History Kit, which includes the headpieces and eyeglasses needed to transform you from ordinary Joe into historical hero.

No matter which famous historical hero you choose, make sure to educate yourself on the politics that go with them! While you’re at it, educate yourself on the politics of today as well. With one of the most important elections in recent history coming up, make like a historical hero and know your stuff.

Happy Birthday, USA!

We’ve got a birthday to celebrate! In just a couple of days America will turn 233 years old! Everyone seems to celebrate it in one way or another, or at least acknowledge it.

I just say the words, ”4th of July” and immediately you’ve got images of fireworks, parades, and barbeques flooding your mind. Everything is red, white, and blue. Uncle Sam has a big grin and is dancing about in the streets. Flags are waving away and there’s an overall feeling of happiness, right? At the very least, most of us think of the 4th of July as the start of summer and spend some time outside basking or playing in the sun – slathered in sunscreen, of course.

Here’s some interesting facts you may not know about Independence Day. Share them with your friends and family and you’ll look utterly brilliant, and, no doubt be the life of the party on the 4th of July.

  • The first Independence Day was celebrated on July 8th, 1776 – not on the 4th!
  • The 4th of July wasn’t even a federal legal holiday until 1941!
  • In 1776 there were 2.5 million people in the 13 original colonies. Last year on the 4th, there were 302 million in 50 states.
  • The US imported about $216 million of fireworks in 2006, with $206 million from China.
  • We also imported $5.3 million in flags – again, mostly from China.
  • Americans eat more than 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July!

Throw on your party clothes and celebrate Uncle Sam’s birthday. Do it in style. Red, white, and blue is the way to go - whether you’re in a bikini, shorts and a t-shirt, or a suit. Top off the look with a party hat just right for the occasion. We’ve got your traditional Uncle Sam top hat! You just can’t go wrong with these! They are all really well-made and fun. I love the quality of these and the velvet-like material they are made out of. They are comfy as can be and hold their shape fantastically. And they all have this great little feature - size adjusters inside. You can make them fit your head perfectly. This comes in really handy for me – being of the more compact size than most.

These are these are the perfect party-hat for whatever type of birthday celebration you may having for our country this year. I’m thinking — great with a bikini at the beach or in the stadium watching some killer fireworks extravaganza.

So get out there – watch those parades, hit the beaches, light up the grill, oooh and aaahhh over fireworks, wave your flags, blow your horns this Independence Day. Celebrate! It’s party-time!

Sassy Renaissance Costumes

Do you ever find yourself wishing you could go back in time? Well, with costumes from Halloween Adventure, you can!

Go all the way back to the Renaissance times with our insane Renaissance costumes. Back then, boys were gentleman and women were ladies. Ahh, to live in an age of romance.

If you’re scared to go all out, dip your feet in the water with our Lock Lace Bodice Renaissance Costume. Pair with pants or a skirt for a fabulous costume! The superb cut cups the breast for a perfect lift. Double boning in the front dips below the navel for a flat profile. Lacing in the 54 grommets up the back sides and front allows for custom fitting. Made of durable cotton twill in burgundy and trimmed in gold gimp, this bodice is engineered to last for years. A hidden pocket keeps the four pieces of spring-steel boning in place, and reinforces the front grommets.

If you think you’ve got the guts to go all out, try our Lock Lace Bodice Dress Costume. This costume is like the milkmaid gone badass, with a gorgeous multi layered purple and fuchsia skirt, white peasant shirt and sexy bodice top. More, please!  The superb cut cups the breast for a perfect lift. Double boning in the front dips below the navel for a flat profile.

Dress like the women of old time Italy in our Maiden of Verona Adult Renaissance costume. This costume is gorgeous, and features a lovely long purple and ivory panne gown with gold trim accents and a matching headpiece. It’s almost reminiscent of something Maid Marian would wear while waiting for Sir Robin Hood!

Gents can rock our Marine Blue Harem Pants. These babies look perfect with a plain black button up. Rock it with a Napoleon hat or our Tales of Old London Hat for extra spice.

If the pants aren’t your style, try our Twill Cloak with Pin. This baby is badass, or at least, as badass as a Renaissance costume can be! The double layer of cotton twill keeps in the heat while letting out the body's moisture. The outer layer of twill is black and the inner layer is navy.

For more Renaissance costumes, check out our Halloween Adventures website! Remember to check in our wigs section for fabulous hairpieces to match your historical self.

Who You Gonna Call? Ghostbusters!

I ain't afraid of no Ghost. Ghostbusters is coming back with a vengeance not seen since the Stay Puft Marshmallow man attacked New York City. The original movie is coming out on Blu Ray on June 16th and the new videogame based on the popular movie franchise is being released the same day as the Blu Ray release. The video game according Ivan Reitman producer and director of the two films is a reboot of the series. The video game had a budget of nearly $12 million dollars so much is expected from the game. The original cast members were brought back for the game for the voice talent.

The renewed interest in Ghostbusters has ignited rumors that the film series may continue. According to the Chicago Tribune a script is due next month from "The Office" writing partners Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the same writing team behind the upcoming Ramis-directed comedy "Year One." None of the original actors have signed on to the movie as of yet, but there is interest in doing the picture. The interest is dependent on the quality of the unseen script.

Ghostbusters is controlled by a five-way partnership: Columbia Pictures, Reitman and three of the stars -- Bill Murray, Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Each has a veto on any new project.

Murray had positive things to say last year about the new screenwriting duo, but it's of course possible that he will read the new script and decide to veto it. Aykroyd hopes not; he's already doing some cast daydreaming -- he'd like to see Alyssa Milano (who lends her voice to a character in the video game) and Eliza Dushku of "Dollhouse" as the first female Ghostbusters. "I think they're amazing," he said. "And I'm excited about the whole idea of getting this done."

The viewing public certainly is a fan of the movie. In 2008, a reader poll by Entertainment Weekly ranked "Ghostbusters" as the best comedy of the previous 25 years.

Check out our selection of licensed Ghostbusters Costumes. We love this sexy outfit.

This one looks like it hopped right out of your TV screen and onto your back!

Jetsons Live Action Movie Coming!

Love the Jetson family as much as we do? Then you'll be as excited about this news as we were. Famed Dusk till Dawn, El Mariachi, Sin City and Spy Kids director  Robert Rodriguez is working on preproduction for live action version of the Jetsons. Adam F. Goldberg from Fanboys completed a script for the movie in 2007 but Rodriguez has been hard at work retooling the script. He's also been pretty tight lipped about casting for the movie. Here's hoping that the movie doesn't turn out like the live action version of the Flinstones. With Robert Rodriquez at the helm I have some faith in the project. In the meantime take a look at these re-imagined Jetsons costumes inspired by the original cartoon characters Judy and Jane never looked like this in the animate series.

We're a bit obsessed with this Jane Jetson costume. That shiny purple dress! Sparkly! Metallic! Purple! Futuristic! It's just oh-so-fabulous! Even Judy's costume is fantastic - a shimmering pink zip up number that is sure to have all the guys calling. Men will love our George Jetson costume, while kids will adore our Astro dog costume. Putting it on the family dog is a hilarious activity in and of itself.

If you were casting for this movie who would you cast for Judy,Jane, Elroy, George and Cosmo? Imagine casting has compiled their own list of predictions from user votes.

It's Almost America's Birthday!

We’ve got a birthday to celebrate! In just a couple of weeks America will turn 233 years old! Everyone seems to celebrate it in one way or another, or at least acknowledge it.

Throw a Costume Themed Graduation Party!

Yes, it is that time of year again.  A proud moment for many parents and definitely proud moments by the students themselves.  We will see a record number of individuals graduating college this year and entering the workforce.

Disco Never Dies

Disco Never Dies

Before these students - or soon-to-be-ex-students - finish their college careers, there are a few loose ends to tie up.  You’ve been to all the weekend theme parties throughout the years and it’s time to top them all.

There are so many costume theme party ideas, it’s really a matter of choosing the right one.  Looking for a winner?  How about a Gangster Party?  Wow, you might not want to invite your parents.

Or perhaps a disco party is more your style? I’m not sure what it is, but it seems like the 70’s will never die, so this is a great costume party to throw!  Get down and get groovy and you can throw the ultimate retro party.

You might even show off what you’ve learned over the years and throw a historical costume party! Whatever you decide, just have fun, enjoy the party and then you get down to business, but don’t just walk out of college without a grand finale!

Comics, Cowboys and Sexy Cowgirls!

All’s been quiet on the Western front, as of late, regarding new movies coming out for 2010. Right now, fans are buzzing about movies still to come this summer, such as Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe. Still, we’ve seen the trailers for these films about 1,000 times already, salivating until we can get our mitts on some tickets at the box office in just a few weeks.

So, once summer’s gone and we’ve snapped up today’s top box office draws on DVD… What do fans have to look forward to? Comic book fans, Western afficionados and horror mavens will be chomping at the bit to check out the big screen adaptation ofJonah Hex in theatres come August 2010.

A lesser-known title with a cult following, Jonah Hex was released under the DC Comics banner in 1977 afte making his first appearance in 1972. The comic disappeared for some time before making a return under DC’s adult-oriented Vertigo imprint in 2005. The comic follows the adventures of hideously scarred former Confederate soldier, Jonah Hex, who was sold by his father to the Apache Indians in return for safe passage. Years later following the death of his wife-to-be, Hex engages in a tribal tomahawk ritual battle and breaks the rules. As punishment, a red hot axe is placed to one side of his face, giving him the distinctive facial injuries he bears for the run of the series.

The new Jonah Hex film of 2010 stars Josh Brolin as the title character, a bounty hunter in the Old West fixin’ to take out a Voodoo practitioner attempting to raise an army of zombies to try to resurrect the Confederacy. Other big names in the film include Megan Fox and John Malkovich.

So far, no photos of star Josh Brolin in makeup as the disfigured Hex have surfaced, but Megan Fox has been rocking a sexy saloon girl outfit for the film.

Megan Fox in Jonah Hex

Get the jump on hot costumes for next year and take a look at some saloon girl costumes, along with some zombie and cowboy looks.

As soon as we find some pics of Jonah Hex as he’ll appear on the big screen, we’ll be sure to post them… Along with some ideas on how you, too, can duplicate his unique look without having to incur the wrath of a tribal elder!

SNL takes on Marvel with Spiderman Costumes!

SNL stars Bill Hader and Seth Meyers have written their own version of Spiderman. The story is set in New York City and according to news media Halloween is coming early this year. The comic release date is May 28th 2009, which means you should be seeing this wacky version of the famed Marvel Comic in stores. The plot is all about Spiderman getting knocked out during a Greenwich Village costume parade. That’s right this is not the suave guy we have come to know that can save the city from the evil enemies. Instead Spiderman has been knocked out and replaced.

But who is replacing him? An intoxicated reveler has taken the real Spiderman’s place by donning the costume. The rest of the plot will remain untold. Kevin Maguire did the artwork for the new comic. You might remember him from the Justice League International Comic. So you have some excellent art, but you’ll have to decide for yourself if the written work is up to standard.

For us, it means just another boost in Spiderman costume choices. You might decide to add your own story to the tale this year for Halloween. What better costume idea than to have a bit of a knocked out look to your Spidey? Of perhaps you have revealed your identity as the real “Spiderman.”

With Spiderman 3 costumes and Marvel comics you can never go wrong at a costume party. Just think this year could be full of Spiderman, Wolverine costumes, and much more. Afterall if it is not a new comic that spurs you into action for your current costume it might just be a movie like X-Men Origins Wolverine. The movie has been an ongoing hit since its release earlier this month.

Marvel Comics has also provided Justice League costumes for us. Wonder woman costumes for the female persona may even be right up your alley. The truth is even with an SNL spin on the favored comic there are always going to be costumes for everyone based on the heroes created.

Hilarious Animal Costumes!

Animalicious Costumes!

This Halloween, pay homage to the other half of our species. No, we don’t mean men; we mean animals! Some we think of as pets, some we see in zoos, some we see as food, but let’s face it, all of them make great costumes!

Buggin’ out? Women can rock our Lady Bug Adult Classic Costume. This costume is as adorable as can be, with a short red mini dress with black spots, black and red wings and a little hat with antennae. It even comes with black gloves!

Flies might not be well liked, but you will be, because this costume is great! It includes a black dress with blue “FLY GIRL” writing, realistic looking wings, and a little hat with antennae. Buzz buzz buzz!
